The objective of this activity was to perform a second screening in semi-controlled greenhouse conditions with the model crops (tomato and maize) before moving on to field trials in crops of strategic interest for Tenerife and Madeira.
In the case of the Canary Islands, we intend to speed up this phase of pre-field trials by establishing agreements with companies collaborating with one of our partners, the Cabildo of Tenerife. These firms work with short-cycle crops in greenhouse and outdoor conditions. Similarly, trials will be run with those algal extracts from Madeira that performed best in the first screening phase in the cultivation chamber. Finally, once the best formulated products among all those tested have been selected, field trials will be carried out on the crops with strategic interest chosen by Madeira (one crop as a result of cuts to its budget) and Tenerife (two crops) with the support of the Tenerife Cabildo.
